Are Your Kids Addicted To Gaming?

It might seem like all your tween or teen wants to do these days is hunker down with a smartphone, tablet, laptop or gaming device and play—for hours on end. Teens and gaming go hand-in-hand, especially as they gain access to a variety of different devices and gaming options. But how do you know when all that gaming becomes too much gaming?
“Problematic” gaming
There is currently no classification for “gaming addiction” in the United States, although the World Health Organization did define “gaming disorder” in 2018 as being “characterized by impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences.”
