08/26/21 - Olivia Rodrigo Gives Writing Credit To Paramore On 'Good 4 U'
Who Are They
Paramore formed in Franklin, TN in 2004. They paid rock band dues by traveling on the Warped Tour for several years. Fronted by charismatic frontwoman, Hayley Williams, the band has always had to fight a little harder for respect in a male-dominated genre. Their most recent, self-titled album is their highest-selling yet and garnered them their first Top 10 Billboard hit, the gospel and funk-infused “Ain’t It Fun”.
What Are Their Messages
Paramore’s songs range in theme but always retain an air of hope, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. When asked about their faith, founding member Zac Farro told BBC, “Our faith is very important to us. It's obviously going to come out in our music because if someone believes something, then their world view is going to come out in anything they do. But we're not out here to preach to kids, we're out here because we love music.”
What Does a Youthworker Need2Know
Much of Paramore’s music is overtly spiritual, owing to the fact that they all claim to be Christians. Compared to many other pop-punk bands from the 2000s, their music has always remained positive without resorting to cursing or overt sexuality.
