Devotionals from Fee
By Danielle Kimmey

You don't have to dig too deep to discover how much scripture flows through the songs of Fee (they're in YLO box 71

Here's a written and two audio devotionals from Fee... we hope you enjoy and use the dog out of them.

“...But God...”

thought’s behind the writing of “all because of Jesus”

You know the part in every great action movie where it seems that the characters that we’ve grown to love during the previous 90 minutes of big screen fixation are destined for certain gloom. It seems that all hope is lost...the mission has failed...the hero is nowhere to be found...the aliens are prevailing...ya know what I mean? And then the music starts. It’s the kind of music that invokes an instant premonition that hope is alive and thereby setting the stage for the redemption of what seemed hopeless. This exact scene plays out in Ephesians 2.

Eph 2:1-4 - And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lust of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. (nasb)

cue the music...

Then, in verse 4, the two most hopeful words appear. Two words that usher in our winsome hero and His redeeming hope.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead on our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. (nasb)

Two words...”But God”...make all the difference. There is no limit to the power of God and no measure to His mercy. The fact that I am alive today speaks into the idea of “But God”.

I was dead in my sin...But God...made me alive.
I was lost...But God...found me
I was guilty unto death...But God...sent His Holy Son for my ransom

By the sacrifice and blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, I’ve been made new and Holy, and have been raised up to life. Our Hero is indeed Alive. Mighty. Powerful. Rescuing. Glorious. It’s All Because of Jesus we’re Alive.
