Heart: Sanctus Real (tour update & song)
By
interlinc: Talk about the title of your new album "We Need Each Other", and the story that is told through that song.

Sanctus Real: I think that one of the hardest parts of loving people is communication. The song "We Need Each Other" is about loving people enough to tell them how you feel, whether it's encouraging or constructive. When we don't take the time or courage to communicate our feelings, we hold them inside and we can become frustrated. Our feelings end up coming out through sarcasm and hurtful behavior. This is not what God wants for us. The theme of unity comes up a lot in this record, and that's why we decided to go with the album name "We Need Each Other".

interlinc: What are you most excited for your fans to hear on your new album?

Sanctus Real: Musical diversity. We really experimented with different types of musical instruments and styles on this album. I think a wider audience is going to appreciate these songs.

interlinc: Compare the theme behind your new album "We Need Each Other" to your previous album "Face of Love" and how have you evolved as a band.

Sanctus Real: The songs on "The Face of Love" reflect the way we were feeling when we wrote it. We were going through some trials as a band and it really showed in the mood and tempo of the songs. "We Need Each Other" has the same lyrical depth but is lighter at heart. I think it feels very uplifting.

interlinc: You recently finished a tour with Steven Curtis Chapman and this spring you will be touring with Third Day. What have you learned from working with these veterans?

Sanctus Real: Never lose sight of what matters. Love God and people first and the rest will come. The artists who have long term success are usually people who have their priorities in place.

interlinc: If you could put together your dream tour, what bands would be on the bill?

Sanctus Real: If we had to collectively pick one tour wish that would come true, I'm sure it'd be with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. This is a band that we all like but Chris and Pete absolutely love.

interlinc: How do the testimonies from your teenaged fans impact you?

Sanctus Real: When people tell us our songs have impacted them, it helps us keep going. The reason we work hard to create good music is so people get the message in it. It really moves me to know that God uses our songs to change peoples' lives.

interlinc: It's your day off in the middle of a 3 month tour, what would you do with your free time?

Sanctus Real: Find a good coffee shop, order a medium vanilla latte, walk around and see as much as possible, and eat some good food.

interlinc: What is one thing you want for Sanctus Real to accomplish before it is all said and done?

Sanctus Real: The answer to this question is in our new song "Legacy". You're going to have to listen and find out.

interlinc: What is the most asked question you get in interviews?

Sanctus Real: What does you name mean? Want to know? Sanctus= holy, hymn of praise. Real= Not trying to portray a false rock star image. There's enough of those guys running around

Tour Update

First Show
Current mood: peaceful

Last night was the first show of the Third Day Live tour at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. We took the stage at 7:50pm and were pleasantly surprised by a full house, almost 3000. We were warmly recieved as we opened the set with "The Face of Love". The first half of the set was perfect...then the fourth song came along. I started feeling the stress of lack of sleep and sickness in my throat as a note here and there started to slip. What can you do when your sick? Answer: do the best you can. After admitting my ailment to the audience I
felt the freedom to have fun with it. I was able to teach the chorus of next song to the audience and they sang it beautifully. And my favorite moment..."Singing lead vocals for Sanctus Real for the first time ever, Peter Prevost!" it was a wonderful struggle and we all had a great time. This is going to be an amazing tour.
